Unfair Selection
What is Unfair Selection?
Unfair selection refers to recruitment or redundancy selection processes that are biased, discriminatory, or not based on objective, job-related criteria. In recruitment, this may involve favouring candidates based on personal connections rather than qualifications, or using criteria that disproportionately exclude protected groups. In a redundancy context, unfair selection occurs when the criteria used to choose which employees are made redundant are not objective, transparent, or consistently applied. Employers should use documented, measurable selection criteria and ensure that selection processes comply with anti-discrimination legislation.
