What is Union?

A union, or trade union, is an organised group of workers who come together to collectively negotiate with their employer over wages, benefits, and working conditions. Unions represent their members in collective bargaining, grievance procedures, and workplace disputes. In the United States, employees’ rights to form and join unions are protected under the National Labor Relations Act. Union activities include negotiating collective bargaining agreements, representing members in disciplinary proceedings, and advocating for workplace safety and fair treatment. Employers are legally required to bargain in good faith with a recognised union.
