What is Collective Bargaining?

Collective bargaining is the process of negotiation between an employer and a group of employees, typically represented by a trade union, to determine conditions of employment. These negotiations commonly cover wages, working hours, benefits, workplace safety, and grievance procedures. The resulting collective bargaining agreement is a legally binding contract that governs the terms and conditions of employment for the covered workforce. Collective bargaining is protected under labour law in many jurisdictions, including the National Labor Relations Act in the United States.
