What is Sexual Harassment?

Sexual harassment is a form of unlawful discrimination that includes unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favours, or other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature. There are two recognised forms: quid pro quo, where employment decisions are conditioned on sexual favours, and hostile work environment, where conduct is severe or pervasive enough to create an intimidating or offensive workplace. Sexual harassment is prohibited under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act. Employers are expected to maintain clear anti-harassment policies, provide training, and take immediate corrective action when complaints arise.
