Protected Concerted Activity
What is Protected Concerted Activity?
Protected concerted activity refers to actions taken by employees acting together to improve their wages, benefits, or working conditions. Under the National Labor Relations Act, employees have the right to engage in concerted activities for the purpose of collective bargaining or other mutual aid or protection, regardless of whether they are part of a union. Examples include discussing pay with colleagues, raising safety concerns as a group, or circulating a petition about workplace policies. Employers may not discipline, discharge, or otherwise retaliate against employees for engaging in protected concerted activity.
