Mentoring

What is Mentoring?

Mentoring is a developmental relationship in which a more experienced individual provides guidance, advice, and support to a less experienced colleague. Unlike coaching, which is typically performance-focused and time-limited, mentoring tends to be broader in scope and longer in duration, often addressing career development, organisational navigation, and personal growth. Mentoring programmes can be formal, with structured matching and objectives, or informal, arising naturally from professional relationships. Effective mentoring benefits both parties, with mentees gaining knowledge and confidence while mentors develop leadership skills and fresh perspectives.
