What is Machine Learning?

Machine learning is a branch of artificial intelligence where computer systems learn from data and improve their performance over time without being explicitly programmed. In HR, machine learning algorithms are used to predict employee attrition, identify high-potential candidates, personalise learning paths, detect anomalies in payroll data, and optimise workforce scheduling. Machine learning models are trained on historical data and can surface insights that inform talent strategy. Organisations should ensure that training data is representative and regularly audit models for bias to maintain fair and equitable outcomes.
