What is Artificial Intelligence?

Artificial intelligence (AI) refers to computer systems designed to perform tasks that typically require human intelligence, such as learning, reasoning, and decision-making. In human resources, AI is applied across recruitment, employee engagement, learning and development, and workforce planning. Common applications include AI-powered resume screening, chatbots for employee self-service, sentiment analysis of engagement surveys, and predictive models for attrition risk. While AI can increase efficiency and reduce bias when designed well, organisations must also address risks related to algorithmic bias, data privacy, and transparency.
