Instructional Design

What is Instructional Design?

Instructional design is the systematic process of creating effective learning experiences by analysing learner needs, defining objectives, and developing structured content and assessments. Instructional designers apply learning theories and models such as ADDIE, Bloom’s Taxonomy, and Gagné’s Nine Events of Instruction to create training programmes that achieve measurable outcomes. In HR, instructional design is applied to employee onboarding, compliance training, leadership development, and technical skills programmes. The discipline increasingly incorporates multimedia, interactive elements, and adaptive learning technologies to enhance engagement and knowledge retention.
