Algorithmic Transparency
What is Algorithmic Transparency?
Algorithmic transparency is the practice of making the logic, data inputs, and decision criteria of automated systems understandable to those affected by them. In human resources, this applies to tools used for hiring, performance evaluation, and workforce planning. Transparent algorithms allow candidates and employees to understand why a particular decision was made, and enable organisations to audit systems for fairness and compliance. Increasing regulatory attention, such as the EU AI Act and New York City’s Local Law 144, is driving employers to disclose when and how automated tools are used in employment decisions.
