Pareto Chart

What is Pareto Chart?

A Pareto chart is a type of bar chart that displays individual values in descending order alongside a cumulative line, illustrating the principle that a small number of causes often account for the majority of effects. Based on the Pareto Principle (the 80/20 rule), this tool helps identify the most significant factors in a dataset. In HR, Pareto charts are used to analyse the root causes of issues such as employee turnover, absenteeism patterns, workplace injuries, or recruitment bottlenecks, enabling teams to prioritise improvement efforts where they will have the greatest impact.
