What is Managed Care?

Managed care is a healthcare delivery system that organises providers into networks and uses various techniques to control costs while maintaining quality of care. Managed care plans typically require members to use in-network providers, obtain referrals for specialist care, and follow pre-authorisation procedures for certain treatments.
