Gender Pay Gap

What is Gender Pay Gap?

The gender pay gap is the difference in average earnings between men and women, typically expressed as a percentage of men’s earnings. It can be measured as an unadjusted figure comparing overall averages, or as an adjusted figure that accounts for factors such as role, experience, and hours worked. The gender pay gap is influenced by occupational segregation, differences in working patterns, career breaks, and systemic bias. Many jurisdictions now require employers to report on their gender pay gap. HR plays a key role in analysing pay data, identifying disparities, and implementing strategies to close the gap through equitable compensation practices.
