Carrier
What is Carrier?
A carrier is an insurance company that underwrites and administers insurance policies, assuming the financial risk of providing coverage to policyholders. In employee benefits, carriers provide group health, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance plans to employers. HR and benefits professionals work with carriers directly or through brokers to negotiate plan terms, premium rates, and service levels. When selecting a carrier, employers typically evaluate network size, claims processing efficiency, customer service quality, financial stability, and the range of plan options available.
